YOGIS & “Awareness” Are On The Rise~

In a world that has every minute planned out, and there are “never enough hours in the day,” one tends to lose track of the what really matters, “taking care of ourselves.”  Taking care of health, emotionally, mentally, and physically, is a tough battle in the United States. When looking around outside, cars, traffic, and people, are alone “grinding out” their day. It has been of recent interest in America the increase in the awareness of nurturing what really matters in this life. The latest Yoga in America study shows that 20.4 million Americans practice yoga, compared to 15.8 million from the previous 2008 study, an increase of 29 percent. People a connecting with each other, and reconnecting with their inner selves thru yoga, it is quite beautiful to know there is a way to create a healthy life that is fulfilling.

Even people who are not yet doing yoga want to know more about it. Of current non-practitioners, 44.4 percent of Americans call themselves “aspirational yogis”—people who are interested in trying yoga.” That is a large percent of interest in  yoga.  It is apparent in the graph that people are concerned about high levels of stress, and how to maintain flexibility, and an overall healthy body.  Stress is the leading contributor of a majority of the “dis-eases” encountered  in the United States. The effects of stress at work constitute a major public health issue.” It is obvious that America needs something more…Yoga just might be it!  The Relaxation Response, by Harvard Benson cardiologist , showed that meditation and breathing techniques for relaxation could have the opposite effect of stress, reducing blood pressure and other indicators. This is huge for American’s to be able to counter ALL the stresses of day-to-day life with ONE practice, yoga.

58.5 percent of people say that yoga is important for “overall health.” This statistic makes a YOGI smile, knowing that the population is considering yoga a large part of their, “Overall Health.” The connection of mind & body is one that should be explored by everyone. Yoga helps silence the busy mind and bring fresh “prana,” or life, into the tissues of the body. Guaranteed yoga twice a week for a month WILL improve the “Overall Health” of the human condition.

To know how important developing and maintaining a yoga “practice” is can be a major shift in the “awareness” and universal consciousness. Yoga is a channel to relating to the inner self, reconnecting with others, while realizing humans are connected energetically.  The Yoga Journal says, “38.4 percent have practiced yoga for one year or less.” This is the highest percentage of  all. It tells information about how many people are doing yoga in the last five years. It’s exciting all the new yogis spreading the “light!”

The “light” of happy, healthy, connected life!
